 A generous grant from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield has enabled the purchase of electronic prescription, aka e-prescribe, computer systems.
E-Prescribing allows PCHS doctors to electronically and securely transmit prescriptions directly to patients’ pharmacies of choice, resulting in greater:
- efficiency by requiring fewer steps for submitting prescriptions
- legibility therefore eliminating errors caused from hard-to-read handwriting
- safeguards by profiling side effects and cross-checking drug interactions
- streamlining by automating physician refill requests
